Huawei in China has significantly reduced its share of the smartphone market due to a stricter embargo by the US government this year. Kirin chips can no longer be produced, and at present, it is difficult to continue the production of at least high-end models.
However, Huawei seems to continue trying new technologies. According to the GSMArena, this time, Huawei’s next model camera will use a “liquid lens”, which is a lens that uses a case containing two layers of liquid as a lens and can change the focal length by applying voltage and electrically controlling it.
In addition, it is sturdy with no mechanical moving parts. It seems that there is also an advantage that the labor and cost of lens selection and adjustment can be significantly reduced.
By using a liquid lens, the focusing speed is greatly improved, and it is possible to focus as fast as the human eye. In addition, this lens is adopted as a part of the telephoto camera, and it seems that it will be installed as a pair with Sony’s unreleased new sensor, IMX782.
