During MWC 2023 Barcelona, Huawei will release and display ten wireless network products and solutions with energy-saving performance and dual advantages.
Among them, ultra-broadband 8T8R RRU, which has the strongest performance in the industry, has the best all-weather energy consumption in the whole scene, and the performance is increased by 40%.
Thanks to the 5G NR high-precision beam-forming technology designed for the FDD band, the ultra-wideband 8T8R RRU can simultaneously improve network capacity and coverage, adding another 40% to the experience, according to Huawei.
Meanwhile, in medium-heavy load scenarios, power-boosting technology can achieve 100% dynamic Power sharing between carriers and systems and reduce power consumption by 30% with the same performance. In a light-load scenario, Power-Adapting supports Power on-demand scheduling, realizing that 8T8R base power consumption is comparable to 4T4R.
A Remote Radio Unit (RRU) is a component that hangs from the top of the base station, very close to the antenna. RRU supports two bands: FDD and TDD. FDD is divided into the upstream and downstream segments, while TDD supports the upstream and downstream segments in the same segment.
The number of “xTxR”, that is, the number of transmitting and receiving ports used by RRU to connect antennas, is strongly related to RRU’s ability to support MIMO, beam forming ability, and uplink signal reception ability.

For example, an RRU has four antenna ports, both receiving and transmitting, generally called 4T4R, which supports up to 4×4 MIMO downlink and 4-channel diversity reception uplink.
