Nowadays WiFi 6 has become a buzz word after the release of the new Samsung Galaxy S20 series and the Xiaomi Mi 10 (Pro). But the Huawei P40 series will support WiFi 6+. Huawei apparently wants to add one more. WiFi 6+ is under discussion for the new models of the P40 series. This is an in-house development of Huawei, which should bring clear advantages.
The Chinese phone manufacturer will also launch a number of new WiFi 6+ compatible routers. It is expected that the new products will be presented at the “5G All-Scenario Conference” on February 24th.
Earlier certification data showed that the wireless solution on the Huawei P40 series is a WiFi / Bluetooth all-in-one chip, the Hisilicon Hi1105. That seems to be the hardware basis on which Huawei will implement its WiFi 6+ standard.
The current theoretical bandwidth of the WiFi 6 smartphones currently on the market is 1200Mbps, which achieved a maximum of 900Mbps in practice. The current WiFi 6 technology is actually worse than the technology found in the 2018 Huawei Mate 20 series.
