Chinese technology giant Huawei today unveiled several new products from its offering in China. Thus, the MateBook D 15 2020 Ryzen Edition notebook, Huawei TalkBand B6, Huawei Kids Watch 4X, but also MatePad 10.8 were presented, which is the company’s first tablet that supports Wi-Fi 6+. Details about the Huawei MatePad 10.8 are brought to you below.
With a metallic body, rounded lines, somewhat heavy and with a considerable size, the Huawei MatePad 10.8 points to that screen diagonal offering an LCD panel that reaches the resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. With a density of 280 PPP, the tablet has sufficiently tight frames and four speakers in the rear area. They are certified by Harman Kardon, so they should sound more than decent.
The inclusion of the Kirin 990 in the Huawei MatePad 10.8 makes it clear that the brand aims to offer a high-performance experience. In this sense, and being the highest-end processor from Huawei, the tablet is powerful, offers enough RAM (6GB), and is available in storage versions that reach 256GB (from the most basic 64GB). In addition, Huawei allows the expansion of the internal space through its proprietary SD cards, the NM Cards.
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 is well equipped for the multimedia field, also for the workplace: Huawei equips its device with a magnetic keyboard to make entering text easier (in the 6/256GB version). And it is compatible with the relevant stylus, although it must be purchased separately.
In the photographic field, the Huawei MatePad 10.8 maintains a 16MP rear camera with an aperture that aims to be bright for a tablet: f / 1.8, but the tablet does not have an LED flash. The section is completed with an 8MP front camera and f / 2.0 aperture, all washed down with Huawei’s own capture software.
As stated at the beginning, MatePad 10.8 has support for the new Wi-Fi 6+ networks, offering a transmission speed of up to 2400 Mbps, but the model is not equipped with 5G connectivity, and a single variant with 4G LTE is available. Besides, this tablet is upgraded to support the M-Pencil stylus, similar to the flagship Huawei MatePad Pro tablet.
According to Huawei, the tablet provides up to 7 hours of gaming, 11 hours of video watching, and 10 hours of internet surfing with this huge battery. It is also committed to fast charging since the Huawei MatePad 10.8 includes a 22W charger.
In addition, it is updated to Android 10 with the relevant custom layer: EMUI 10.1. As usual in China, and now also in the rest of the world, the Huawei MatePad 10.8 lacks Google’s services and applications. The tablet has been presented in China and for now, will remain there. The most logical thing is for Huawei to internationalize it, but we do not know if that will happen soon.
Regarding the prices of Huawei MatePad 10.8, Its 6 + 64GB version will cost 2399 yuan (about $342). The 6 + 128GB version costs 2799 yuan (about $399). On the other hand, the 6 + 128GB version with a keyboard will have a price of 3599 yuan (about $513). Finally, we have an LTE version with 6GB of memory and 256 storage capacity priced at 3199 yuan (about $456). It will be available for sale on August 13th.
