Presented in February, the folding smartphone Huawei Mate X was supposed to go on sale in the middle of this year, but since the announcement at the MWC 2019 there was almost nothing heard about it. Now the manufacturer has officially announced that the release dates of the device have been slightly shifted.
Journalists of the CNBC publication during a conversation with a representative of Huawei found out that the official release of Mate X is scheduled for September of this year. The company said that they became more cautious after identifying a number of design flaws with the Samsung Galaxy Fold, another folding smartphone, which was scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2019.
“We do not want to produce a product that would destroy our reputation,” a Huawei spokesman said.
An employee of the corporation also said that despite the recent events, the company will still release Mate X. The smartphone will run under the Android operating system from Google since it was created and presented before Huawei was blacklisted by the United States.
Interestingly, some stores have already begun to accept pre-orders for Huawei Mate X. For example, on Taobao, a folding smartphone is offered at a price of $3610, while the official price is € 2299 (about $2589).
