Huawei has had a difficult year for its smartphone business. The ban, which is still in place, has caused delays in the release of its Huawei P50 range of phones. So it’s not surprising that the next generation of the Huawei Mate 50 flagships won’t hit the market until next year.
Rumor has now surfaced on Weibo that the Huawei Mate 50 series will be a long time coming. This is said to have been postponed to the 2nd quarter of 2022 and will probably not be presented until the end of the quarter.
The Huawei Mate 50 phones should then be released again with 5G support, but 4G variants should still be available. The new flagships should come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor and Huawei’s own Kirin chipset on the market. The Snapdragon processor will most likely be a 4G version of the yet to be announced Snapdragon 898 processor.
The source also states that Huawei’s strategy will be one flagship series per year for now, rather than two. That means that there will be no new P model in the coming year and that the Huawei P60 will probably not appear until 2023.
