Huawei today launched the flagship Mate 30 series of smartphones in its native Chinese market. As expected, more affordable variations of smartphones were presented, not to mention the traditionally lower prices for China compared to Europe.
The basic Mate 30 5G smartphone is offered in versions with 8GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB of internal flash memory at a price of 4999 yuan ($700) 5499 yuan ($771). While the Mate 30 Pro 5G with 8GB of RAM and 256GB and 512GB of internal flash memory is offered at a price of 6899 yuan ($967) or 7899 yuan ($1107).
Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro 5G versions will be on sale starting November 1 at 10:08 CST via Vmall and other major platforms.
If we talk about the specs, the 5G versions of Mate 30 series are equipped with Kirin 990 5G chip, the overall performance, and energy efficiency is significantly improved, the size of the three-core NPU, Da Vinci innovative architecture, AI computing power is comprehensively improved. In addition, Kirin 990 5G supports both SA and NSA 5G dual-mode, adapt to the 5G/4G/3G/2G frequency band of the three major operators in China.
For other configurations, Huawei Mate 30 Pro carries a 6.53-inch screen that has a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and uses a technology called ‘Horizon Display’ whose screen is curved on the right and left. While the Mate 30 screen is 6.62 inch 2340 x 1080 pixel which is not curved, aka flat and both use OLED panels.
But when viewed in terms of innards, the two phones have relatively no striking difference. Except for the capacity of the Mate 30 Pro battery which is 4500mAh compared to 4200mAh of Mate 30. Both also have the same charging capability, which is 40W when using cable, 27W for wireless, and also supports wireless reverse charging.
At today’s press conference, Yu Chengdong said that the Huawei Mate 30 5G series is world’s first 2nd gene 5G phone which supports the 5G SA/NSA dual-network mode. Huawei Mate 30 series has 21 antennas, including 14 5G antennas. In terms of frequency band support, Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G supports seven frequency bands N79, N78, N77, N41, N28, N3, and N1.
