Huawei Kirin 980 and Apple A12 Bionic severally won the world premiere and initial sale of 7nm mobile SoC, and therefore the comparison between the 2 has naturally become a hot topic.
In a Kirin 980 Keynote event in Dubai recently, Huawei mentioned that they are confident that Kirin 980 will perform better than Apple A12. Huawei has been developing Kirin 980 for three years, mainly in three aspects: energy efficiency, AI and connectivity. However, because Mate 20 needs to wait until October 16th to appear, pure performance, the only GB4 single core can be compared, Apple A12 from A11 4300 to 4800 points, and Kirin 980’s official score is 3360 points.
Of course, a SoC is not only the running point of the CPU but also the GPU, LTE speed, AI processing capability, etc. The GPU can only speculate from the paper. Huawei claims that the Kirin 980 game frame number is 22% more than the 845 845, A12. The measured GFXbench is 40%~60% higher than A11 and 20~40% higher than Snapdragon 845. A12 is expected to lead Kirin 980. Of course, the most important thing is the exclusive optimization of game makers to Apple.

As for AI and connectivity, Kirin 980 may have some advantages, especially baseband. This year’s iPhone is fully replaced with the Intel XMM7560 baseband, with a maximum downlink of 1Gbps, while the Kirin 980 is 1.4Gbps.
