Huawei‘s new Kirin processors could be available on the main devices of the firm in this last part of the year, to depend less on other rival actors such as Qualcomm or Samsung.
According to a new report, the Chinese company is preparing to launch two new advanced processors for the high-end, including Kirin 985 and Kirin 990, the latter with built-in 5G connectivity.
To date, no processor manufacturer has launched a chip with built-in 5G, although the next 865 snapdragon is likely to be among the first. However, it seems that Huawei wants to get ahead of everyone and launch during the last quarter of the year a processor with built-in 5G that could be called Kirin 990. It is reported that the processor will show this fall. Perhaps in the 5G version of Mate 30.
While the United States has already given permission for US companies to do business selling components with Huawei, the Chinese company will continue its effort to reduce its dependence on US suppliers.
However, they will try to diversify their supply chain by incorporating companies such as Taiwan’s RichWave and Japan’s Murata Manufacturing, to reduce dependence on US companies such as Broadcom, Skyworks, and Qorvo. Huawei intends to sell 10 million 5G-enabled phones by the end of this year.
