The Huami brand, partly funded by Xiaomi, has expanded its lineup with an Amazfit GTS smartwatch taking on an Apple Watch for half of its price and an Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3 sporting in the lineage of the Amazfit Verge 2 and of the Stratos series.
The company also showed for the first time an Amazfit X concept of a wristwatch with a flexible curved display. Recalling the Nubia Alpha preview at the MWC 2019 earlier this year, the gadget has a display full length and with some flexibility.
Amazfit X received a new 2.07-inch display, the development of which cost the company “millions of dollars”. It was possible to bend it by 92 degrees due to the glass heating up to 700 ° C. The pixel density is 326 ppi, and the color rendition complies with the NTSC standard (the range is 38% wider than sRGB).
Huami bent not only the display. The 220mAh battery is also made in the shape of a crescent. According to the manufacturer, it is enough for 7 days of battery life. The motherboard was divided into 3 segments and, again, bent in the shape of a bracelet.
There are no physical keys here – they are completely replaced by electronic ones. Thanks to this, the design has become more solid, but it is not clear whether this helped to achieve a high level of protection against water.
In short, an elegant and futuristic smart band, so much so that Amazfit X will not be released before 2020, because there are probably still so many “edges” to be filed in the middle of all those curves. Unfortunately, we do not have information regarding the price of Amazfit X, but we will certainly not fail to provide you with all the details of the case when it is announced.
