With even more Full View or 18:9 smartphones flooding the market, HTC thinks it has a shot with its new Desire 12 and Desire 12+. These are their latest 18:9 smartphone offering which aims to provide a big screen experience that’s easy to your wallet.
The HTC Desire 12 is a 5.5″ smartphone while the HTC Desire 12+ is the bigger brother with a 6.0″ display. Both push a lower HD+ resolution of 1440×720 on an IPS LCD panel. For the HTC Desire 12, it runs on a MediaTek MT6739 Quad-Core processor that’s mated to 3GB of RAM and it comes with 32GB of onboard storage. If you need more, it is also expandable up to 2TB via microSD.
For the camera, the HTC Desire 12 comes with a 13MP f/2.2 PDAF main camera while the front gets a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.4. Powering the device is a 2,730mAh battery and it charges via a microUSB port. In terms of design, it gets an HTC U11 inspired Liquid Surface design and it uses a durable acrylic glass back surface with a seamless frame with curved edges.
The bigger HTC Desire 12+ runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor that’s also mated to 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of onboard storage which is expandable via microSD. Over at the rear, it gets a dual-camera setup with a main 13MP f/2.2 shooter and a secondary 2MP camera for depth of field effects.
Over at the front, the HTC Desire 12+ have an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera with beautification features with an LED flash. For quicker unlocking, it even comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Powering the HTC Desire 12+ is a slightly larger 2,965mAh battery which also charges via microUSB. Out of the box, the HTC Desire 12+ runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense skin on top.
The HTC Desire 12 gets a suggested retail price of $245.01 (about 199 euros); the recommended retail price of the Desire 12+ is $306.57 (equivalent 249 euros). Both models come on the market in Warm Silver and Cool Black from the end of April.
