Huawei officially launched the latest HarmonyOS 2 system and began to push it on Mate, P and other mobile phones, MatePad tablets, and other devices, and the Hongmeng era has truly begun.
At the developer conference in August 2019, Huawei announced for the first time its self-developed Hongmeng OS system (English Harmony OS), whose name is groundbreaking, and Hongmeng is also the world’s first microkernel-based full-scene distributed OS. Advantages such as distributed architecture, natural smoothness, kernel security, and ecological mutual sharing.
Hongmeng 1.0 was launched in 2019, and Hongmeng 2.0 was launched in September 2020. It will fully enable the full-scene ecosystem, with five major capabilities including cross-device, service transfer, extreme speed, visibility, and private security.
Immediately after the release of Hongmeng 2.0, the Beta version will be released for application developers. It will be released on September 10 for large screens, watches, and cars. In December 2020, it will be released for mobile phones.
In addition to mobile phones, tablets, watches, cars, and other platforms, the Hongmeng 2.0 system will also be open source. From September 10, Hongmeng OS will open-source 128KB-128MB terminal devices such as large screens, watches, and cars. In April 2021, it will be open-sourced for memory 128MB-4GB terminal devices, and after October 2021, it will be open-sourced for all devices above 4GB.

On August 9, 2019, Huawei held the Huawei Developer Conference in Dongguan and officially released the operating system Hongmeng OS.
2020:
- On December 16, the mobile phone Hongmeng OS2.0 opened the Beta test version.
2021:
- On April 22, Huawei Hongmeng HarmonyOS application development online experience website was launched.
- On April 27th, Huawei Hongmeng OS 2.0 public beta was launched.
- On May 16, Huawei Hongmeng OpenHarmony 2.0 was open-sourced one after another.
- On May 18, Huawei announced that Huawei HiLink and HarmonyOS will be unified into Hongmeng Zhilian.
- On May 25th, Huawei’s EMUI Weibo was renamed HarmonyOS, and it was officially announced that the Hongmeng product launch event would be officially held on June 2.

At the press conference, Huawei introduced that Hongmeng OS is an operating system that can support multiple devices and multiple hardware. Whether it is a mobile phone, a tablet or a watch, a car, IoT, etc., it can be connected with only one system and can cover the memory. Small and large smart terminal devices ranging from 128K to 4GB or more.
A major feature of Hongmeng OS is that it makes full use of distributed technology, allowing users to freely combine and combine hardware and integrate multiple terminals into one.
Aiming at the problem of multi-device connection, Hongmeng OS has brought a unified control center. It adopts a card-like design with a simple interface and easy to use. Different devices can be interconnected with a single pull. Both mobile phones and PCs can form a super terminal.
