It has been several weeks since various rumors indicate the upcoming release of the GoPro Hero 9 sports camera. The Winfuture site seems to have got its hands on the package and promotional visuals for the camera. According to the package photo, the GoPro Hero 9 will have a 20MP sensor, shoot 5K at 30 frames per second, 4K at 60 frames per second, and 1080p at 240 frames per second for slow motion.
The most awaited function in the world of flying machines (all types combined) is of course the new version of the digital stabilization module, HyperSmooth, which goes to version 3. It will be interesting to know how the camera behaves. with ReelSteady post-production stabilization software (acquired by GoPro). The photos will benefit from an HDR mode, a SuperPhoto mode and a RAW mode. The GoPro Hero 9 will also offer a TimeWarp 3.0 mode for accelerated footage, a live streaming tool in 1080p.
Among the functions is also a display of sensor data superimposed on videos (Data Overlays), hoping that it is more complete than on previous models. The rear screen will be touch-sensitive (classic), the front screen in color (like the one on DJI’s Osmo Action). The camera will be waterproof to a depth of 10 meters.
GoPro Hero 9 Black will be equipped with a 1720mAh battery, which means that the charging capacity will increase by almost 41% compared to the 1220mAh of the GoPro Hero 8 Black. GoPro should offer a charger for 2 batteries as an accessory.
From the leaks, GoPro has gotten rid of the usual cardboard-plastic boxes that were used to display cameras in the store. The new packaging for the GoPro Hero 9 looks like a hard case that doubles as a package and storage space for the camera. Obviously GoPro is cutting back on excessive packaging.
