Google launched its Pixel line of wireless headphones in 2020 as a response to Apple’s AirPods, but they didn’t live up to expectations, with major drawbacks including connectivity issues and short battery life. But now there’s word that Google may soon address those pain points with a Pro version of the Pixel Buds.
According to leaker @Jon Prosser, Google will release a pair of high-end wireless headphones called the Pixel Buds Pro. That could mean Google’s renewed challenge to the high-end wireless headphone market, which is dominated by Apple’s AirPods Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro.
Google Pixel Buds Pro is said to be available in a variety of color schemes: Real Red, Carbon, Limoncello and Fog, but little else is known. That being said, it’s a safe bet that the new product will have active noise reduction.
Prosser also claims the Pixel Buds Pro will be arriving soon, but doesn’t give a date. It was previously revealed that the Pixel would be unveiled at Google’s most recent I/O 2022 event (May 11), although there was no previous announcement about the headset.
