Exciting news for tech enthusiasts! After the successful release of the Pixel 7a in February and the Pixel Tablet in early April, Google has yet again passed a milestone with its upcoming release of the Pixel Fold folding screen. The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has recently granted certification to the Pixel Fold, marking its final regulatory approval.
The FCC filing revealed two models of the Pixel Fold, namely G9FPL, and G0B96. While both models have similar features, only one filing was made. The Pixel Fold comes with all the necessary connectivity features, such as NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax), 5G, and UWB Ultra Wideband. The inclusion of UWB Ultra Wideband is particularly noteworthy, as Google has only used it in the Pro series of phones and the new Pixel tablet. This indicates that the Pixel Fold folding screen is positioned as a high-end device and is rumored to start at a whopping $1,700.
Moreover, like the Pixel 7 Pro, the Pixel Fold also supports Bluetooth dual antennas, which Google has previously claimed to provide “enhanced quality and connectivity.” It was also revealed that the Pixel Fold folding screen is equipped with a Tensor G2 chip, using Samsung’s 5nm process. The performance of the Tensor G2 chip is superior to that of the Pixel 7 series, making the Pixel Fold a powerhouse device.
The external screen of the Pixel Fold measures 5.8 inches with a resolution of 2,092 × 1,080, while the internal screen measures 7.6 inches with a resolution of 2208 × 1840. Both screens use OLED panels with a refresh rate of 120Hz, providing users with an immersive viewing experience. The rear of the fuselage is equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera, a 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens, making it an ideal device for photography enthusiasts. The Pixel Fold boasts a battery life of more than 24 hours and can last up to 72 hours in extreme power-saving mode.
In conclusion, the Pixel Fold folding screen is an exciting addition to Google’s range of devices, and its features are sure to impress tech enthusiasts. With its high-end specifications and premium price tag, it is clear that Google is targeting a niche market with this device. While the release date is yet to be announced, the FCC certification suggests that the launch is imminent. Tech enthusiasts will undoubtedly be eagerly waiting for the Pixel Fold folding screen to hit the market.
