According to foreign technology media Android Authority reports, Google’s upcoming Pixel 8 series mobile phones will be equipped with USB DisplayPort Alternate function, similar to Samsung’s DeX, to achieve desktop experience.
After the Google Pixel 8 series phone starts the USB DisplayPort Alternate mode, you can connect the external display, and then use the extension keyboard, mouse and microphone and other accessories, as a desktop computer.
Note: The concept is not new, having been introduced in 2011, three years after Android was released. MOTOROLA introduced the ATRIX; Microsoft launched Continuum and more in 2015.
Samsung introduced DeX in 2017, which only requires a USB-C cable or HDMI adapter to achieve a desktop-level experience. MOTOROLA has also introduced a “Ready For” feature that enables desktop experiences such as video chat.
