After months of leaks, and what seems like a lengthy delay, Google on Monday finally announced its budget-friendly Pixel 4A phone. As expected this year we are not getting an XL version, the affordable Google Pixel 4a only coming in a single 5.81″ size.
With a fabric design made of 70% recyclable material, Google has made some new cases for this Pixel 4A and basically chooses in black, static gray and blue confetti colors. The Google Pixel 4A has a new design with a soft-to-touch plastic back. However, it does not have the dual-tone style of the Pixel 3a.
The rear camera and dual-LED flash are contained within a square camera bump that slightly bulges out from the rear, very reminiscent of the Pixel 4. The 4a has a physical fingerprint scanner on the back and a mint-colored power button for the black color model.
There’s a speaker grille on the top bezel and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the frame. At the bottom, you’ll find the USB Type-C port, a bottom-firing speaker, and a grille for a microphone.
The Pixel 4a features a 5.8-inch FHD + (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that uses an OLED panel. This screen has a punch-hole cutout in the upper-left corner to hold the selfie camera and has a bezel-less display so that the edges are very low. It gives a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. Additionally, since this display is HDR + certified, it enhances the video-viewing experience on the phone, and the audio is also good with stereo speakers.
The Pixel 4A is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G. It comes with an octa-core CPU and a 2.2GHz and Adreno 618 GPU. It is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Pixel 4A does not come with a Soli radar chip or Pixel Neural Core but comes with the Titan M security chip, which helps keep your data safe and secure for up to three years with new updates.
The Google Pixel 4A comes with a single 12MP camera that uses the same Sony IMX363 sensor as the Pixel 4 to support OIS and EIS. Google claims that the Pixel 4A’s camera can produce images like the Pixel 4 from its camera with features like Live HDR +, Night Sight, Astro Photography, Super Res Zoom, and more.
The rear camera of this phone can record 720p at 4K at 30Kps, 1080p at 3080/30 / 60fps and 720p at 240fps, while the selfie camera can shoot full HD videos at 30fps. The front camera of this phone is similar to the Pixel 3A with an 8MP camera with an 84-degree field-off view.
On the software side, the Pixel 4a runs Android 10 OS out of the box.k and is pre-loaded with Google Assistant, which converts words into text using AI and machine learning algorithms, along with new features such as the new Recorder app. Additionally, the phone has access to things like the live transcript and live caption.
The Pixel 4A has a 3140mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Google claims that this 4a can provide 24 hours battery backup and comes with an adaptive battery feature that manages battery life depending on how you use your phone.
The Google Pixel 4A comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and is priced at $349. Available August 20 in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States.
