The Tronsmart Onyx Apex is a true wireless in-ear headphone with active noise canceling from the Chinese brand Tronsmart and that for the price you can say that they are entry-level, but actually positioned more in a mid-range due to the features they have. The Onyx Apex is compact and robust and has a design similar to many others on the market, reminiscent of Airpods.
When it comes to comfort and fit, the surprise was that the three sizes that come as standard are too big for those with small ears and prevent proper placement in the ear, as in our case. When changing to rubbers smaller than those provided in the box, the fit becomes possible, although it is not perfect: it takes some technique to make them perfectly adjusted. However, we do not recommend it for sports as they sometimes end up falling. When using this in-ear to receive calls, or make video conferences, the experience is quite good – they are reliable, almost no delay, thanks to the Qualcomm aptx Adaptive codec, and they have a clear sound; for listening to music, the sound is good, but not so defined.

The bass takes precedence over the mids and trebles, as they are much more accentuated: that may be the problem. Regarding active noise cancellation (ANC), the Tronsmart Onyx Apex is quite efficient and blocks some sounds well, although they cannot compare to other higher-end headphones and much higher price. So, it can be said that these Tronsmart headphones work well both indoors and outdoors, but they are not ideal if you want a powerful ANC with a total absence of external noise.
The battery of these Tronsmart Onyx Apex headphones lasts about five hours, as advertised, with the box giving power for another good twenty hours, where ten minutes in the case allows one hour of use. That is if we don’t abuse the ANC, in this case, the autonomy drops to a little more than half. This is an asset when we compare, for example, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 (4 hours of autonomy with ANC off) and the Oppo Enco X (5.5 hours of autonomy with ANC off) and which cost more than triple. Full charging of the case takes about two hours using the USB Type-C cable provided.
Qualcomm aptx Adaptive is undoubtedly an asset in the reliability of the Tronsmart Onyx Apex and the commands of these earbuds are also very responsive. You can use a number of features based on touch or pressure; although it takes a few days to memorize how many touches do what. The fact that they are compatible with Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa is also a ‘plus’ of these headphones. We can buy it from Geekbuying at $36.99 by using Coupon Code: GKBTSDE21 in Flash Sale.
