Garmin has launched Descent G1 series of solar-powered smartwatches, which support a variety of diving motion monitoring and solar-assisted charging, with a battery life of up to 16 weeks and are expected to go on sale in April.
Descent G1 series has a 45mm diameter case, an inductive waterproof button design and a sapphire mirror. Officially,Descent G1 series is waterproof at 10ATM (100m) and tested to EN13319 standards. It lasts up to 16 weeks in solar-assisted charging and smart mode, and up to 25 hours in submersible mode.
Descent G1 series has a variety of diving modes such as single gas, mixed gas (high oxygen and triple mixed gas), instrument diving, free diving, free hunting and CCR diving. The user can obtain data such as depth, duration of dive, temperature, NDL/TTS, ascent/descent speed, gas type, oxygen partial pressure, nitrogen load, decompression/safety stay reminder, and current time. In free-diving mode, users can view dive data and surface data, as well as more data indicators such as ascent and descent speed to analyze dive performance.
Descent G1 supports GNSS multi-satellite positioning, and the watch automatically marks and records entry and exit points at the surface, and logs dives on the Garmin Dive App. Users can also view a detailed analysis of each dive activity, including maximum depth and time spent underwater. With the Garmin Dive app, users can view popular Dive sites rated by other users, as well as information such as weather conditions and Dive logs for that Dive site to plan a Dive trip. Users can also view tide information, wave height, wind speed and wave point information on the watch through the built-in surfing Widget.
In addition, Descent G1 series also provides all-weather health tracking, including advanced sleep monitoring and sleep score, with built-in indoor and outdoor sports tracking, such as swimming, golf, yoga and surfing, as well as recording full range of sports health data monitoring and providing training guidance.

Descent G1 series can be paired with compatible smartphones and receive email, text messages and app notifications directly on the watch, with subsequent software updates supporting NFC traffic card functionality. Descent G1 series will go on sale in April.
