Samsung has recently unveiled the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship phones and it is now working on its next flagship phone – the Galaxy Note 9. Judging by the previous release patterns, Samsung may announce the Galaxy Note 9 phablet in August this year. Its browser benchmarks have appeared to reveal its model number, Android version and the aspect ratio it will be supporting.
The model number of the Galaxy Note 8 is SM-N950. Hence, the Samsung device with model number SM-N960U is most likely the Galaxy Note 9. The “U” could refer to unlocked edition of the phablet. The second thing that can be deduced from its browser benchmarks is that it is running on Android 8.0 Oreo. Since the phablet will be debuting ahead of the launch of Android P, it is likely that it will be treated the latest Android version by the end of this year or early next year. Hopefully, the Android 8.0 Oreo would also bring along Project Treble with it.
The screen of the phablet supports a resolution of 412 x 846 pixels. This indicates that the phablet will continue to sport 18.5:9 aspect ratio like the predecessor Galaxy Note 8 and the newly unveiled Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
Early rumors have claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 could be the first phone from the company with under-display fingerprint scanner. However, a recent report had suggested that it may not feature it. Samsung’s mobile division CEO DJ Koh had said recently that the company will be announcing Bixby 2.0 along with the Note 9.
