Xiaomi has released Xiaomi MI5 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, when it comes out, it just has Chinese version, but right now it also avails for two MIUI running Global Stable ROM and the China Stable ROM. But most users buy from China with China stable ROM, so how to fix this kind of problem to flash your phone to MIUI Global Stable ROM? By the way, just be aware of the fake tampered ROM on MI5.
Requests:
Xiaomi Mi5 device either with locked bootloader or unlocked bootloader;
A computer (PC/Laptop) running Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 64-bit system;
USB Data cable – use the one comes with your phone (if your phone’s bootloader has been unlocked);
USB Deep Flash Cable / Engineering Cable (if your phone’s bootloader is still locked);
Download Qualcomm QDLoader USB Drivers;
Download MI Flash Tool Beta version;
MIUI Fastboot ROM either MIUI 7 or MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM – Download MIUI v7.5.2.0 Global Stable or check latest version here;
Download Minimal Fastboot and ADB Package.
Prerequisites:
First, guarantee you have made a backup of all your important files and data. Flashing through Fastboot taks risk for anyone and there is always a chance of bricked device especially when a user has undergone wrong steps. We hold no responsibility of any damage that may happen to your phone as a consequence of following this method. Proceed responsibly.
Second, you have to firstly enable USB Debugging in your phone available within Settings>> Developer Options. Read – how to enable Developer Options on any MIUI device.
Third, make sure your phone’s battery has at least 50% remaining.
Forth, you need to firstly disable driver signature enforcement in your computer. How to do it? Simply follow these sequence. You can do that by pressing Windows button + i on keyboard to reveal the Settings page. From there you can choose Update & Security >>Recovery >> Advanced startup >> Restart now. Wait a moment for your computer to restart. Next, go to Troubleshoot >> Advanced options >> Startup settings >> Restart. Once your computer restarts, now choose Disable driver signature enforcement which is option number 7. See the video below for more details :
Sixth, install Mi Flash tool beta version into your phone and restart your computer.
Seventh, extract the downloaded MIUI Fastboot ROM (.tgz) file. You can use either Winrar or 7zip to do that.

FLASH MIUI FASTBOOT ROM (UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER)
Step 1 – Reboot your phone into Fastboot mode. Turn it off completely and then press Volume Down (-) and Power buttons simultaneously until you see Fastboot logo.
Step 2 – Connect your phone to your computer using its standard USB cable.
Step 3 – Now extract Minimal Fastboot & ADB files package. Open up the extracted folder in Windows Explorer
Step 4 – Hold Shift button on your keyboard and right-click at any location in Windows Explorer within the Fastboot and ADB files. Next, choose “Open command prompt window here“.
Step 5 – A command prompt window will appear. Now type this command and hit Enter on your keyboard to execute it :

Step 6 – Now launch MiFlash Beta Tool up. Next, click on the “Select” button and locate the extracted MIUI Fastboot ROM.
Step 7 – Then click on the “Refresh” button. Your device should now be displayed in the device list.
Step 8 – Now tick the “Clean All” option in the bottom of MiFlash Beta tool.
Step 9 – Finally, click the “Flash” button to start installing MIUI Global Stable Fastboot ROM on Mi 5.
Step 10 – Now wait for MiFlash tool to completely flash the MIUI Global ROM onto your Mi5 phone.
Step 11 – Once done, you will see the “success” message similar to the one below.
FLASH MIUI FASTBOOT ROM (LOCKED BOOTLOADER)
Step 1 – Reboot your phone into EDL mode. Turn it off completely and then press Volume Down (-), Volume Up (+) and Power buttons all at once simultaneously until your phone enters EDL Mode.
You may also read our previous articles on several methods to put Mi 5 into Emergency Download Mode (EDL). However, for devices running MIUI v7.3.x.x or above, there is big possibility that EDL mode has been disabled. Therefore, you’ll need Xiaomi Deep Flash USB cable aka Xiaomi Engineering cable. You can either purchase it or make a DIY version of it.
Step 2 – Connect your phone to your computer using its standard USB cable if you managed to put it into EDL mode. Alternatively. turn your phone off completely and connect it to your PC using Deep Flash USB cable. Make sure you connect it to USB 2.0 port (not 3.0) attached directly to the motherboard – usually the ones in the rear side of your PC.
How to put Mi 5 into EDL using Engineering Cable? Turn off your phone completely >> use the special engineering flash cable >> hold the button on the cable and plug to Mi 5 >> and wait for 3 seconds and then release the button.
Step 3 – Now extract Minimal Fastboot & ADB files package. Open up the extracted folder in Windows Explorer.

Step 6 – Now install Qualcomm QDLoader USB drivers. Read our previous guide – how to properly install Qualcomm QDloader drivers.
Step 7 – Now launch MiFlash Beta Tool up. Next, click on the “Select” button and locate the extracted MIUI Fastboot ROM.
Step 8 – Then click on the “Refresh” button. Your device should now be displayed in the device list.
Step 9 – Now tick the “Clean All” option in the bottom of MiFlash Beta tool.
Step 10 – Finally, click the “Flash” button to start installing MIUI Global Stable Fastboot ROM on Mi 5.
Step 11– Now wait for MiFlash tool to completely flash the MIUI Global ROM onto your Mi5 phone.
Step 12 – Once done, you will see the “success” message similar to the one below.
Finally, you can now disconnect your phone from PC and reboot it as usual. Initial boot process may take longer time than usual. However, once it done rebooting, you’ll have MIUI Global Stable ROM running on your phone. Enjoy! Just do it with much experience. You can also enjoy Xiaomi MI5 here.
