Samsung has faced some setbacks in the past with their Exynos processors, specifically with the first Exynos 2200 equipped with AMD GPU architecture. However, the company has not given up on developing and researching the Exynos series. The next step for Samsung is the release of the Exynos 2400, which is expected to be manufactured using the more energy-efficient Samsung 4nm LPP process.
The Exynos 2400 is rumored to have 4 GPU cores of AMD RDNA2 architecture, less than the previously estimated ten and less than the six on the Exynos 2200. This is to reduce power consumption and heat generation. The CPU is said to be a combination of 1+2+3+4, including a super large core X4, two high-frequency performance cores A720, three low-frequency performance cores A720, and four energy-efficient cores A520.
Recent revelations indicate that the Exynos 2400 scores 1530 for single-core and 6210 for multi-core on the GeekBench 5 test, with the possibility of reaching up to 1711 for single-core and 6967 for multi-core. These are impressive scores, as the single-core performance is less than 9% worse than the Apple A16 and it’s the highest record for the Android platform. In addition, it broke through 1600 points for the first time, which is about 10% higher than the average performance of Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8. The multi-core performance is even more impressive, as it outperforms the A16 and the second-generation Snapdragon 8.
The Exynos 2400 is just the beginning for Samsung, as the Exynos 2500 is expected to introduce the AMD RDNA3 GPU architecture, which is specially customized and optimized for production. If all goes well, the Exynos 2500 will appear on the Galaxy S25 series together with Qualcomm’s fourth-generation Snapdragon 8.
In conclusion, Samsung has been working tirelessly to improve its Exynos processors and bring better technology to its customers. The Exynos 2400 is a step in the right direction, and the upcoming Exynos 2500 is expected to raise the bar even higher. With the AMD RDNA3 GPU architecture, Samsung will make waves in the industry and cement its position as a top player in the smartphone market.
