After the Mavic Air, impressive drone with its video qualities and foldable design, instead of the image stabilizer … Foldable too. The Chinese manufacturer DJI announces today the Osmo Mobile 3, the first image stabilizer for the smartphone to be able to fit in the pocket.
With 2 generations on the market, the new DJI Osmo Mobile 3 stands out for its folding design. It is new gimbal is now more comfortable to store and transport in a backpack, bag or even the pocket of pants -something wide, yes-, thanks to that part that can be folded to make it more compact.
At the level of construction materials repeated what was seen in the second generation and is made of plastic. This favors having a more contained weight, although not very low that we say since it weighs 405 grams. Regarding the folded dimensions, the size is 157 x 130 x 46 mm.
For the rest, it is physically very similar to what was seen in previous versions, although there are some minor differences. As the handle forms an angle of 15º with respect to the vertical axis of stabilization. This facilitates a more comfortable posture and improves the ergonomics of product use.
For the rest, the news comes in the face of the software as expected. In addition to the usual recording and tracking functions, the new DJI Osmo Mobile 3 has a Story mode that, together with the use of templates, makes it easy to create videos to share quickly on social networks. In addition, you can add music, filters and edit it in a basic way. All this is done through the DJI Mimo application.
As we pointed out, it is compatible with gestures for use remotely, also with the ActiveTrack 3.0 function, Hyperlapse and other modes such as panoramic, timelapse or slow-motion (this option is only available on iOS devices). However, the great value of this gimbal for many is its integration with other third-party applications, especially with Filmic Pro.
The new DJI Osmo Mobile 3 is priced at 109 euros (about $122) for the basic pack where only the stabilizer is included. Then, for 129 euros (equal to $144) you can opt for the gimbal plus a tripod that is placed at the bottom and a carrying bag.
