The long-awaited drone manufacturer DJI has finally officially released its newest drone which consists of two products, namely the DJI Mavic 3 and 3 Cine. Both are successors to the 2018 Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom drones. The Mavic 3 and 3 Cine have identical specifications with a number of differences. Both are equipped with a 5000mAh battery that is claimed to be able to fly for 46 minutes under ideal conditions.
The flight time is longer than the Mavic 2 series which is in the range of 30 minutes. Batteries of both drones are removable and can be in – charge directly at the drone via a USB cable type-C with power up to 65 watts. For the camera, the DJI Mavic 3 and 3 Cine are equipped with a module containing two cameras.
The first camera has a 20MP Micro-Four-Thirds sensor made by Hasselblad with a 24 mm wide-angle lens (variable aperture f/2.8-11). The main camera supports 5.1K (5120 x 2700 pixels) video recording at up to 50 fps, DCI 4K (4096 x 2160 pixels), and 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) up to 120 fps, and 1080p up to 200 fps. The maximum bitrate is 200Mbps in H.264 and 140Mbps in H.265.

Register email The second camera is a telephoto type with a 1/2-inch sensor with a 12MP resolution and a 162 mm lens ( 7x optical zoom, fixed aperture f/4.4). Video recording is stuck at 4K 30 fps and can only take JPEG photos.
The obstacle detection feature on the DJI Mavic 3 and 3 Cine has also been improved so that it is now able to detect objects from a distance of up to 200 meters, compared to 20 meters in the previous product. Other features include Advanced RTH (return to home), APAS 5.0, and ActiveTrack 5.0. Both drones are also equipped with DJI OcuSync 3+ transmission technology which promises a range of up to 15-km in open landscapes or 3km in urban environments, with 1080p 60 fps live feed on mobile.
Compared to the Mavic 3, the Mavic 3 Cine drone has four differences, namely the presence of a built-in 1TB SSD storage media, capable of recording Apple ProRes 422 HQ 5.1K videos at up to 50 fps, equipped with a DJI RC Pro controller, and priced more expensively.
The Mavic 3 retails for $2,199 for the standard version, and $2,999 for the Fly More Combo version containing additional items such as two extra batteries, a charging hub, 6 pairs of propellers. the propeller, carrying case, and ND filter set. Meanwhile, the Mavic 3 Cine comes in a Premium Combo version which has the most complementary accessories, including a DJI RC Pro controller with an integrated screen, up to a 10Gbps Lightspeed data cable. This drone is sold for $4,999.
