Cubot KingKong 7 looks like a typical rugged smartphone, although the manufacturer has placed quite a sensible set of components in a rather coarse housing. Which ensures comfortable and easy operation as well as quick response to all user commands. Additional advantages of the device are, clear display, 4 excellent cameras, high quality and great design.
Design
The smartphone is made of a combination of metal and rubberized plastic. The long sides of the body are metal, as well as the frame surrounding the camera on the rear panel. In order to improve the grip, Cubot decided to cut the edges of the body. And although it brought the desired effect, it has one inconvenience – the edges cut into the hand, which is not pleasant at all. In addition, the smartphone is quite heavy (267g) and large (166.75 x 83.5 x 14 mm), which makes one-handed operation not very comfortable. The housing of the tested smartphone meets the requirements of IP68 and IP69K standards, thanks to which it is resistant to water, dust, and difficult conditions (high pressure, humidity). The manufacturer used a plastic cap for the USB Type-C port and a SIM card for the sled.
Display
The 6.36-inch display with 16 million colors makes the operation pleasant and the data on the screen easy to read. The CUBOT King Kong 7 smartphone will ensure good visibility and precise operation even in bright lighting, allowing you to conveniently use the basic functions, watch movies or play games.
Hardware
MediaTek helio P60 in its heyday was hosted in almost every smartphone from the Chinese market and it is not surprising, because it is an efficient item for mid-range phone. The Helio P60 is built on the 12nm FF TSMC process and has four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and four A53 cores also clocked at 2.0 GHz. The integrated Mali-G72 MP3 chip is responsible for the graphics. Tures and videos with a triple camera or play mobile games. The memory of the smartphone has a capacity of 8 GB. Because of this excellent performance, you can use the phone for 3D games or virtual reality. A storage space of 256GB is available for files, data and applications.
Battery
The 5000 mAh battery used in the Cubot KingKong 7 is quite standard for rugged equipment. Interestingly, in combination with a not very energy-efficient processor, it offers quite decent working times. The battery can keep the phone in standby mode for 720 hours, 49 hours of talk time, 32.5 hours of music playback or 19 hours of watching movies. Regardless of the working times that can be achieved, you have to bear in mind that energy recovery is slow. It takes almost three hours to fully charge the included 10W charger.
Cameras
Cubot is also well-positioned when it comes to cameras. The manufacturer installs a triple setup on the back (64-megapixel main camera, 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, 5-megapixel macro) and a selfie camera with 32 megapixels. The software supports various beauty filters and a night mode.
Connectivity and other Features
In terms of communication facilities, the Cubot KingKong 7 performs quite well, but mainly due to the presence of NFC and FM radio (headphones are required to be connected for operation, they are included in the set). The rest is standard: WiFi module (802.11 a/b/g/n), GLONASS navigation system, dual nanoSIM card slot, as well as Bluetooth 4.2. There is also an LTE modem. The fingerprint reader should be more precise and even faster. The working time is satisfactory, but not necessarily the energy recovery, because it takes too long.
