Chuwi is a brand know by making affordable tablets and laptops without compromising quality. Recently announced that they have updated one of their most popular tablets, the Chuwi Hi8 Pro, for the same price you can get the latest iteration from the Intel Cherry Trail Z8350, it would look like a small update but Chuwi made a revision in all the internal and the Android ROM that came installed.
Design
The Chuwi Hi8 Pro tablet (New Version) doesn’t shows any differences compared to its predecessor. It is an 8-inch tablet, with a good construction but made entirely of plastic. On each side has a metal strip that give it a premium design. However, it would have been preferable to have a metal unibody construction, but would make the device more expensive. It is only available in white, both on the front and the back. Its dimensions are 211×123 x9.3 mm and a weight of 350 g. The device is small enough to carry in a backpack or purse.
Hardware
The Chuwi Hi8 Pro tablet comes with the revised Intel Cherry Trail Z8350 64bit Quad Core @1.44GHz (up to 2.2GHz in turbo boost) CPU and 2Gb of DDR3 memory. Just looking at the Chuwi website, you will see that the manufacturer listed the device with ROM (internal storage) at 32Gb, that it is actually 17Gb user usable, so we would recommend using microSD for extra room.
The tablet features a 8″ IPS capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 (WUXGA). It supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. It has two cameras; a front and rear facing, both of which are 2.0MP and support video recording.
The Chuwi Hi8 Pro tablet has a 4000mAh battery, with a battery run time of up to 3 hours of video play back. It is charged by a 100-240V 5V 2A charger via USB Type-C.
Review
Lets get some clear, despite this is a 8″ Tablet, in fact is full PC, so keep in mind all the benefits of having a PC in your hands, ok, some kind of limited but at the end it will run every windows software; word, excel, power point, media player, services, web browsers, everything.
In the other side, thanks to its dual boot, you have an Android 5.1 version on this little devices, that i will use for entertainment, and that is really impressive.
Maybe the 2Gb RAM are short, but this is would get the job done. Two things, the camera is ok, nothing impressive just for video calling, and the battery would last around 5 hours of video.
Conclusion
This is the affordable Windows 10 tablet on the market, Chuwi made a great job with the Chuwi Hi8 Pro to achieve this. The new revised version now sports the Intel Z8350, a little step up from the last year iteration.
