Everyone has their mobile phones on them at all times, and if you’re one of the few that don’t; you’re probably the odd one out. It’s easy to understand why – if you’re bored, you can just take your phone out and start playing some games. That’s one of the many reasons anyway.
In this article, we’ll try to list out a variety of games which could be found on both the Google Play Store and App Store for Android and iOS respectively. For iOS users, get your iTunes Gift Cards ready cause you might need them after reading this.
Honestly, there is a good game for everyone and that’s what this list aims to prove. You might have heard of some of these games before, and some might be rather obscure but they’re all good nonetheless.
Without dragging it out any further, here’s some of the best mobile games that can be found in 2020. Enjoy!
Asphalt 9: Legends
In Asphalt 9: Legends, players could race with more than 50 of the world’s best cars from big name brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mitsubishi. Arcade racing games have been revamped and modernized to continue to catch the attention of the younger generation and Asphalt 9: Legends is just an example of that.
Since this is the ninth expansion of the Asphalt series, improvements and new features have been added to the game. This includes new control schemes, race modes and the comeback of the so called ‘shockwave nitro’ which is honestly a sweet victory for fans of the game. There are over 800 events and 60 seasons as well as a Career Mode and a Multiplayer Mode for a more fun time with friends.
So what are you waiting for? If you want to feel like a super racer or simply just want to live your childhood dream of driving a supercar, this game is made for you.
GRIS
Artistic, beautiful and calming would be some of the many words we would use to describe GRIS. This game has gotten critical acclaim since its release and has been put out on most gaming platforms out there.
Players will play as a girl with special abilities suffering from trauma in a confusing watercolour-esque world. The game is essentially a platformer and players will traverse through a magical world, solving puzzles and challenges as well as battling some creatures. GRIS uses icons instead of text to explain the controls, so a language barrier is not going to be a problem.
If you’re into beautiful graphics, a melancholic story and a serene original soundtrack, this game is for you. It’s most definitely a chill game for your laid back days.
Pokemon Cafe Mix
A lot of Pokemon themed games were released this year and Pokemon Cafe Mix is one of the more appealing ones. It’s exactly what its title suggests; a Pokemon themed cafe run by Pokemon characters and you.
This is a puzzle game where players will have to connect icons together to advance to the next mission. In the game, players will be owners of a cafe alongside Eevee, and Pokemon will come by for food and drinks. These foods and drinks are prepared by players through completing the puzzle game. With more successful orders, the cafe can be upgraded and more Pokemons will come to visit.
If you’re a fan of Pokemon and cafe themed games, this might be the game for you. It’s a very easy, cutesy low-level game suited for children to pass time.
Tropico
Tropico is a construction and management simulation game and this mobile one is spawned after the games’ tremendous success on Microsoft Windows and MacOs. It is essentially a smaller, compact version of the game designed to be played on mobile devices
In the game, players will be the president of a Caribbean island. You are tasked with modernizing the island with new services, building and industries, whilst simultaneously gaining money for yourself. Players will get to choose how they play the game, whether they would like to be a benevolent leader or a dictator; it all comes down to your playstyles.
If managing an island and creating your own city is your special talent, then this would be the game for you. A lot of strategy and thought would be needed to plan a successful island, so if you think you got what it takes then show it off in the game!
Rest in Pieces
Rest in Pieces is an endless runner game, much like the once viral Temple Run and Minion Rush game but with a unique twist of its own. Developed and published by Itatake, players take the form of a fragile porcelain figurine as they swing around from some rope.
Naturally, players would have to dodge right or left as they swing from a rope to avoid getting smashed by the obstacles and challenges in the way. Characters will have to face their own nightmares and overcome them. This game has a pretty simple mechanic to grasp but it will require a lot of practice to get good at it.
If you don’t mind putting in some time to practice and get good at the mechanics of the game, this might be the one for you. It takes a lot of perseverance to not give up and continue going after facing a series of failures, which this game will try to provide.
Marvel Future Fight
Everyone’s heard of Marvel before and there are various spin-offs of the franchise out there, but Marvel Future Fight is one of the more prominent ones. Even a sequel to the game titled Marvel Future Revolution was announced recently at PAX East 2020, which renewed the hype amongst fans.
This is an RPG game with over 200 playable characters for players to choose from. These characters are categorized into three tiers with their own unique battle types. In the game, players will control a group of three characters which will be interchangeable as they go along. There are also several game modes to choose from – Mainline Missions, Special Missions, Epic Quests, Dimension Missions as well as some competitive modes.
If you’re a big Marvel fan that has always dreamed of fighting as your favourite characters, then this might be the game for you. Honestly, there’s no time like the present to fulfill your dreams right?
Verdict
We are well aware that these games barely scratch the surface of the amount of good games out there and honestly, we tried not to throw in the more mainstream games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Fortnite to spice things up a little. Hopefully we provided you with an adequate list – the only way to find out is if you try these games out.
If there are any other games you think deserve to be on this list, do let us know in the comments below! We love hearing from you.
