Today, AYANEO unveiled a new handheld game console named AYANEO Air, which is the first handheld console for Windows with an OLED display and Ryzen 5000 chipset. The model should also be able to display more demanding video games at least adequately.
In terms of price, Aya Neo offers the new gaming handheld in China, with the manufacturer asking a price of 4,399 yuan for the handheld, which corresponds to around $648.
Design and Specs
A comparatively compact handheld, the AYANEO Air is said to come very close to the Nintendo Switch in terms of size and even be lighter than the Nintendo handheld. This new console is equipped with a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Instead of a classic LCD monitor, an OLED panel is used. This should cover 109 percent of the NTSC color space.
The handheld is equipped with the input devices you would expect from a gaming device, such as joysticks and shoulder buttons. There are also action buttons and a directional pad.
Unlike other newly introduced devices from AYANEO, the AYANEO Air is based on a Ryzen 5000 APU. The device, which weighs around 420 grams, should be able to offer a quite reasonable performance, which should at least be sufficient for older triple-A games. The best gaming experience, however, is likely to be offered by (indie) titles that are graphically less demanding.
Lastly, AYANEO Air has an X-axis linear motor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and a microSD slot. AYA Neo Air also uses RGB lighting and speaker aperture on both sides of the device.
