Today Asus presents the ROG Strix SCAR II GL704 which is an update to previous notebook models, with better cooling, finer and with improved hardware. The 17-inch laptops were a nuisance to transport them due to their size, especially the ‘gaming’ models, at a time when the screen bezels were huge, the heat sinks were larger and the weight of the complete equipment It became uncomfortable, especially for those traveling long distances. Now, things are different, especially with the new ROG Strix SCAR II GL704 from ASUS.
For starters, ASUS has equipped this laptop with a 17.3-inch IPS display from AU Optronics, which offers users a refresh rate of 144 Hz, 100% coverage of the RGB color gamut and a response time of only 3 ms. Better yet, the bevels around this panel are ultra-flat, up to 50% narrower than other 17-inch laptops, which makes them the first 17.3-inch laptops that are less than 400mm wide.
In terms of hardware, the ROG Strix SCAR II GL704 is offering us an Intel Core i7-8750H 6-core processor and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 graphics card, so here we have enough power for any game or demanding tasks, such as rendering and that kind of things. In total, this laptop weighs 2.9 kg, contains an RGB-compatible keyboard with ASUS Aura Sync technology and contains ROG RangeBoost technology, which uses additional antennas to extend the range of WiFi.
For storage, this notebook can include a 128GB, 256GB or 512GB M.2 SSD along with an optional 1TB SSHD or hard drive. The Asus ROG Strix SCAR II GL704 laptop will be available on 18 October at a price of $1699. The standard model is delivered with an M.2 NVMe SSD of 256GB, a 1TB SSHD and 16GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 memory.
