Asus has launched a Surface-like detachable two-in-one laptop ExpertBook B3 Detachable, which is mainly used for education, small business, and office purposes. According to Asus, it’s “the first ExpertBook laptop with a two-way kickstand, the first ARM-based Windows laptop with a stylus that can be stored, and the first Asus to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c (No. 2nd generation) laptop”.
Like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold (Gen 2), the B3 detachable has three separate parts: the tablet part contains all the performance hardware and display, a magnetically attachable keyboard, just like the Surface Pro 8, and a Magnetically attached back cover for use as a stand.
The stand allows the tablet to be placed in a horizontal or vertical orientation, but can only be used horizontally when a keyboard is attached. The tablet itself weighs only 1.3 pounds (595 grams), and the keyboard and stand add 0.91 pounds (412 grams). The keyboard has a spill-resistant and antimicrobial coating, and the tablet is MIL-STD 810H certified for durability to ensure it can withstand harsher environments than a regular PC.
Asus claims the ASUS ExpertBook B3 has 21 hours of battery life on a single charge while remaining lightweight and versatile. This is mainly because the computer is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c (2nd generation) processor with eight cores clocked at 2.55GHz, an integrated Adreno 618 GPU, up to 8GB of LPDDR4x integrated memory, and 128GB of eMMC storage.
The computer has a 10.5-inch touchscreen display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 1920×1200 (FHD+) resolution, and 320 nits of brightness, which is certified by TÜV Rheinland for low blue light and flicker-free. Active handwriting using the MPP 2.0 protocol can be stored in the tablet while charging and can be taken out and used at any time when you need to take some notes or do a quick sketch.
The front camera above the display has reached 5 Megapixels, and the rear camera has been increased to 13 Megapixels. It also supports 3D noise reduction technology to help provide photo quality in low-light situations. It also has dual multi-array microphones for voice chat. However, the ExpertBook B3 detachable computer does not support 4G LTE or 5G connections, and can only rely on Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connections. Ports are also a bit sparse, with just a single USB-C port for charging and file transfers, next to a 3.5mm headphone jack.
