Information about the presence of the iPhone Pro 2020 has been widely circulated, and Samsung has reportedly succeeded in convincing Apple to use its Y-Octa OLED panel. Y-Octa technology itself is the latest display technology with a touch sensor directly planted on the film panel display. This is what makes the screen thinner and lighter.
As reported by Slash Gear (11/30), if according to plan, Apple is predicted to use the OLED panel for the iPhone Pro 2020. Later, Samsung will become a supplier of OLED screens measuring 5.4 and 6.7 for the iPhone exclusively. Samsung is the only company that can mass produce such panels on the scale that Apple needs.
Samsung’s Y-Octa OLED panel will only be realized on the iPhone 12 series. Because of these potential products to work on, the iPhone SE 2 itself which will be launched next year only uses an LCD screen. The production results are said to be the reason the agreement was not reached last year. Apple reportedly resigned because it was not satisfied with the results.
Apple is expected to release more than two variants of the iPhone next year. Beyond the Pro variant, Apple will present the iPhone SE with a 4.7-inch LCD screen and iPhone 12 with a 6.1-inch OLED. Unlike the pro variant, the iPhone 12 will use OLED panels from Samsung and LG. While the iPhone 12 Pro is predicted to only use OLED panels from Samsung.
