For Apple, it is not easy to add fingerprints under the screen to the iPhone, and in fact, they are also doing this kind of work. Because recently patent documents show that Apple is also considering using the same method to deeply integrate Face ID components with the screen. When this technology is put into use, we are expected to see a full screen without Notch and holes.
Apple pointed out that after placing the optical imaging array under the screen, it can directionally receive the light transmitted through the screen (just the opposite of the direction in which the screen emits light).
The optical imaging array used here is suitable for any imaging, sensing, or data aggregation purpose, including but not limited to ambient light, close range, depth perception, structured light, optical communication, and biological features such as fingerprints, iris, and facial features Imaging applications.
According to the previous industry chain, Apple may update the iPhone SE series in 2022, and the iPhone SE 3 is expected to be the first model to benefit from an under-screen fingerprint sensor. Once this technology is successfully verified, it will be rolled out in all aspects.
In fact, off-screen fingerprint technology has been widely used on Android phones, and Apple also has its own fingerprint factory, so it is not difficult for them to use this technology, it depends on what kind of experience Tim Cook wants.
