Apple today released iOS/iPadOS 16.7.8 and macOS Ventura 13.6.7 updates that focus on rolling out the March security update to older iphones, ipads and Macs. Fixed a zero-day vulnerability in the kernel.
In a press release today, Apple said that the vulnerability tracking number CVE-2024-23296, exists in the RTKit real-time operating system, and there is a lot of evidence that hackers have been exploited to launch attacks, hackers can use the kernel’s read and write functions to bypass memory protection mechanisms.
Apple released the patch in March of this year, and is now also releasing patches for older iphones and ipads, and Igeekphone has attached the following older devices eligible for the upgrade:
iPhone 8
iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone X
iPad 5
iPad Pro 9.7 inches
iPad Pro 12.9-inch first generation
Since the beginning of this year, Apple has fixed a total of three zero-day vulnerabilities, including CVE-2024-23222 vulnerabilities in January this year, and CVE-2024-23225 and CVE-2024-23296 zero-day vulnerabilities in March.
