Igeekphone, January 30 news, Ross Young, CEO of screen supply chain consulting firm DSCC, tweeted yesterday (January 29) on the X platform that Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4 is not equipped with Smart Island, Instead, it has the same fringe screen as the iPhone 14.
As Igeekphone reported on January 20, source Evan Blass (@evleaks) released a screenshot purportedly from leaked software code that shows Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4 (or iPhone 16E) will come with Smart Island, Not the bangs on the iPhone 13/14.
Back in February 2024, @upintheozone shared a set of sketches that showed the iPhone SE 4 would use the Spirit Island design.
However, aside from the two sources mentioned above, most other information indicates that the iPhone SE 4 is based on the iPhone 14, so it will have an iPhone 14-style fringe design.
Another source, Sonny Dickson, also shared a screen protector that claims to be the iPhone SE 4, which also indicates that the iPhone is not using the Smart Island, but the Liu screen design.
With the introduction of the iPhone SE 4, Apple will eliminate Touch ID from the iPhone lineup and all iphones will come with Face ID. The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to have a 6.1-inch display, a single-lens rear camera, 8GB of RAM, and an A17 Pro chip that supports Apple Intelligence. Current rumors suggest that the iPhone SE 4 will be released in the spring, most likely in April.
