Igeekphone news on April 2, according to the latest revelations, iOS 18 will continue to be compatible with all devices that support iOS 17. For iPadOS 18, however, Apple plans to end support for some older iPad models.
A similar rumor first surfaced last month, and the source at the time quickly deleted the story after Posting it, leaving its credibility in doubt. According to 9to5mac, a private social media account with a good track record shared a more solid rumor today, listing the devices that will be compatible with iOS 18:
iPhone 15 series (including regular, Plus, Pro and Pro Max)
iPhone 14 series (including regular, Plus, Pro and Pro Max)
iPhone 13 series (including regular, mini, Pro and Pro Max)
iPhone 12 series (including regular, mini, Pro and Pro Max)
iPhone 11 series (including regular, Pro and Pro Max)
iPhone XS series (including XS and XS Max)
iPhone XR
iPhone SE (2nd & 3rd generation)
It’s worth noting that this list is exactly the same as the list of iOS 17 compatible devices. For iPad users, however, the news is not so good. The account revealed that iPadOS 18 will stop supporting the following devices:
iPad (6th generation)
iPad Pro (12.9 inches) (2nd generation)
iPad Pro (10.5-inch)
In addition to the above models, iPadOS 18 will be compatible with all iPadOS 17-enabled devices, including the iPad (7th generation) released in 2019, which uses the A10 Fusion chip.
iPadOS 18 Compatible Devices:
iPad: 2019 and newer
iPad mini: 2019 and newer
iPad Air: 2019 and updated
iPad Pro: 2018 and newer
Igeekphone noted some puzzling aspects of the list: The iPad Pro (10.5-inch) and iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (2nd generation), both equipped with A10X Fusion chips, are not on the iPadOS 18 compatibility list, An iPad (7th generation) that uses the A10 Fusion chip can instead be upgraded to iPadOS 18.
