Very soon, as part of the Google I / O 2018 exhibition in early May, the public will be shown a new operating system called Android 9.0 P, and will also talk about all its features. Most likely, the developers will immediately be able to download and install its beta version, which will not be stable, because its goal is to acquaint developers with new functionality so that they can adapt their software to it. Today, on March 2, Google added another useful feature to its new OS – support for Iris Scanner at the system level.
Smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was the first mobile device on the market equipped with an iris scanner (Iris Scanner). Since this device was discontinued after the start of sales because of marriage, to see such a feature, and to fully test it, only owners of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + phones could. Now you can still meet the eye scanner only in the phones of the South Korean corporation, but soon everything will change.
Google has added Android 9.0 Oreo to all smartphones for the support of the eye scanner, or rather its iris. This means that it will be enough for the phone manufacturers to simply install the appropriate module into the mobile device without having to write special software to work with it, as Samsung does.
To find a reference to the support of the eye scanner at the system level was possible in the fresh code Android 9.0 P, published on the Android Open Source Project, which at least now can make sure everyone. The introduction of such a feature also means that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones, announced in the second half of this year, will have an eye scanner because Google always implements in its mobile devices support for such features and capabilities as are available in its newest OS.
The only question is whether the scanner of the iris scanner will be popular among smartphone manufacturers because many of them are already actively using its more advanced but less reliable version called Face Unlock. This is a face scanner that works by software algorithms. It will unlock the phone in a split second, but you can receive it with the help of a photo because the algorithm does not check the person’s face for volume.
Earlier, it became known about other equally useful features that Google added to the operating system Android 9.0 P. For example, owners of smartphones under its control will be able to record telephone conversations, and even users of mobile devices under its control will not have to worry about whether the camera phone can secretly follow.
