Google released the first Beta of Android 14 in May 2023, and today it’s launching a third beta, with updates available for download for multiple Pixel phones, including the 7a.
This release fixes some system issues and adds new accessibility features such as nonlinear font scaling, privacy upgrades (including some photo/video access), new animation support in gesture navigation, and further alignment with OpenJDK 17 LTS release.
IGeekphone notes that Android 14 Beta 3 also brings a milestone in platform stability, with apis (level 34) and system behavior all defined. Google encourages developers to start “doing the final testing and development work to make sure your app is compatible with users’ devices when it is finally released to the ecosystem.”
Android 14 Beta 3 (UPB3.230519.008) comes with a May 2023 security patch, Works with Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7a, as well as Android emulators. Android 14 is expected to be available to Pixel phone users later this year. At least three more Beta updates will be released.
