After the success of the Indiegogo campaign, the ALLDOCUBE X tablet is finally on sale on Aliexpress and soon also on Amazon. Let’s find out more about the device and the sales package, in the first official unboxing video.
As demonstrated by the video hands-on and unboxing published on the net, an excellent opportunity to discover how this tablet is made, from materials to dimensions, and take a look inside the package. So if you are going to buy it, do not miss the information and impressions collected in the first tests.
The key to the success of ALLDOCUBE X is surely linked to the 10.5-inch Samsung Super AMOLED display (2560 x 1600 pixels) in 16:10 and the dedicated AKM Hi-Fi audio chip, which makes this tablet the perfect entertainment tool and playback of multimedia content, with clear images and movie-like sound effects.
Aesthetics is not a secondary aspect for ALLDOCUBE, which has equipped its terminal with thin frames and a metal unibody frame that is only 6.9 mm thick and weighs 500 grams, despite the 8000mAh battery. The data sheet includes the 2.1GHz MediaTek MT8176 hexa-core SoC, PowerVR GX6250 GPU, with 4/64GB of RAM / ROM memory (expandable up to 128GB), a fingerprint sensor on the side edge, two 8MP cameras (rear/front), Android 8.1 Oreo operating system, WiFi 802.11ne Bluetooth 4.2. As for the interfaces, we find a 3.5 mm audio jack and USB-C (with OTG support) for fast battery charging with MediaTek Pump Express 2.0 technology.
The sales package is quite simple and, in addition to the tablet, contains only a power supply (with European outlet) and a protective film for the display, while the book cover that you can observe in the official unboxing video will be purchased separately. For more information, you can visit the product page on the company website.
Although weight and thickness may make you think otherwise, ALLDOCUBE X has a fairly solid structure that does not tend to flex or creak when trying to exert pressure or twisting. The advantages are all in favor of manageability and aesthetics, so it is a beautiful tablet to see but also to use.
The display even manages to exceed expectations, providing a visual experience superior to other Chinese tablets with the same resolution, while lacking support for MediaTek MiraVision, which serves to significantly improve the quality of the images. The maximum brightness is satisfactory, the deep blacks, the very high contrast, and the very wide viewing angle, to be able to use the tablet in any environmental condition. The oleophobic coating, then, makes the panel very resistant to fingerprints.
But it’s not all gold, what glitters. As Techtablets points out, the USB Type-C port does not support video output (nor is there any other alternative interfaces), so you will not be able to connect your tablet to a larger TV or display to watch videos, movies, and series TV. You can shoot videos on YouTube at 1440p (better than you can do with Apple iPad Pro), but there is no support for Widevine CDM L1 (L3 only) and you will not be able to enjoy Netflix streaming content in HD resolution (or higher).
The sound reproduced by the speakers is certainly of high quality compared to other Chinese tablets, but the bass is completely absent. The processor – which scored a score of 103,000 in the Antutu benchmark – seemed enough responsive in video games such as Shadowgun Legends, Blitz World of Warships, PBUG, HIT, Shadow Fight 3, FIFA Mobile, Darkness Rises and Asphalt 9, also demonstrating here better performances than one would have expected.
Finally, with regard to autonomy, the battery is able to guarantee good results considering the high definition of the display: about 3.5-4 hours during the gaming sessions and 6.5-7 hours during the playback of streaming content. All further specifications are available as usual on the manufacturer website. Currently, the device is listed on Aliexpress for a good 250 €, as I mean a fair price.
