According to Chadron Radio reported on February 24, the General Affairs Committee of the Nebraska State Assembly held a public hearing on two bills, LB285 and LB688.
In Bill LB285, it is proposed to ban the sale of most flavored e-cigarette products, however tobacco and menthol flavors continue to be legal in the state. The GASP agency recommended that the Commission amend the Act to include menthol as one of the flavoring products prohibited from sale. Menthol is the preferred flavor for most black and Hispanic children and adults, while candy and fruit flavors are favored primarily by white children and adults. The bill proposed banning all flavors, not just those favored by white groups.
Bill LB688 prohibits the advertising of e-cigarette products in Nebraska.
