Huawei will not arrive this Sunday at the Mobile World Congress 2018 with the high profile that is supposed to a firm that aims to lead the market in the short or medium term, and in fact in the event that the Chinese firm will hold at 14:00 hours next Sunday in Barcelona no high-end Android Huawei P20 is expected, which will be officially presented at the end of March in Paris.
However, between wearables and the MediaPad tablet that we will surely see in Barcelona in a few days there will surely be room to talk about the Huawei P20 , the next generation of high-performance Huawei that is already in the oven and today has left glimpse a prototype showing many of its details as the usual possibility of mounting a triple camera system. Will be real…?
Well, the prototype clearly shows that the Huawei trend is also to look for a more elegant and modern design, with minimized edges and a front that will leave much more space for the screen , we do not know if notch or not in all the models of the P20 range, because in this case, the filtered pre-series device does not have that ugly notch in the upper part of the panel.
In addition, you can see how the prototype does not have a physical control panel for volume control, something that we take for granted and that this device leaves only the right side of the power button, which is accompanied by a strange series of tactile indicators. It could be a sliding touch control to raise and lower the volume, but this detail is something that we do not know and that would undoubtedly be a pioneer and differentiator.
The rear section of the camera does not noticeably differentiate, which seems to be much more integrated with the design of the device, seeking to harmonize lines with respect to its predecessors, lines that are more curved this time, favoring the ergonomics and comfort of the device. that the sources have praised.
The position of the main loudspeaker is also modified, because in the prototype we see a double grill in the lower frame that could either involve a double stereo speaker mounted in that frame or Huawei want to maintain the symmetry leaving one of the grills for the microphone and another for the loudspeaker as it happens with other devices from other manufacturers.
One of the most widespread rumors about the Huawei P20, further fueled by the manufacturer, is the possibility of implementing a triple camera system that would again be a pioneer, although it remains to be seen how Huawei would use that 3rd sensor, which the sources, will be available in another model of the P20.
In fact, there are at least three models of this device, one with lower performance -Lite-, another classic with two cameras that would refer to this prototype, and one of larger size and performance -Pro or Plus- that would mount the triple cameras in the back.
The prototype also shows the latest generation Type-C USB connector, and the rest of the frames are clean, so the standard audio-jack is also abandoned to the high-end of 2018 by Huawei. A movement that we do not like too much and that we hope has not caught on in the commercial version of the terminal … although seeing the Mate 10 Pro does not harbor any hope.
There is no information however on specifications, chipset, screen sizes or format of this, or any other detail about the hardware of the new high-end Chinese giant, which this year faces the challenge of competing one on one with Samsung and your Galaxy S9. There is little more than a month for the presentation of Paris, but before we will see many new features at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona.
