At the recently held Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, telecom operators and smartphone OEMs had demonstrated that 5G phone could soon be a reality. Huawei is one of the companies that is actively working on launching a 5G phone. At the ongoing global analyst summit in Shenzhen, Huawei confirmed that it is aiming to launch its first 5G phone by the second half of 2019.
The above image that was shot at the Shenzhen event that by the second quarter of 2019 it will be debuting its first 5G mobile hotspot. Later in the year, it will introduce the first 5G smartphone. Both the products are expected to feature the Balong 5G01 modem that was showcased at MWC 2018 in February.
Huawei is known for releasing P-series in smartphones in the first half of the year and Mate-series flagship phones in the second half of the year. The P-series phones are packed with flagship specs and topnotch cameras while the Mate-series are packed with advanced flagship specs that are later seen on P-series phones. Last year, the Chinese manufacturer had debut the Mate 10 series in October and the rumor mill is claiming that the Mate 20 series will be made official in October this year.
Hence, it is being speculated that the Huawei Mate 30 could be the first 5G phone from the company. As of this writing, there is no information available on the specs of the phone.
