Smartphone enthusiasts are waiting for the arrival of Snapdragon 670 that will be replacing the Snapdragon 660 chipset. However, fresh information revealed by XDA Developers show that the Snapdragon 670 SoC has been renamed as Snapdragon 710 SoC. Also, it has claimed that it would be powering at least two Xiaomi devices.
The evidence of the Snapdragon 710 chipset can be found in a commit available on Qualcomm’s CodeAurora forums. Here is a screenshot of it:
The Snapdragon 710 is expected to come with the same configuration as the already leaked SD670 SoC as it is the rebranded version. It is already known that it will be an octa-core chipset that will include dual-core high performing cores of Cortex A75 and hexa-core low performing cores of Cortex A55. The details of this configuration have been also spotted in the firmware of the rumored Comet and Sirus devices by Xiaomi.
Nothing much is known about the specs of the Xiaomi Comet and Sirus. However, its been revealed through the leaked firmware of these devices that Comet will be coming with OLED display and Always-on Display feature and 3,100mAh battery. The rumored features of Sirus include OLED screen with display notch and AOD feature and 3,120mAh battery. Both the devices will be lacking NFC and microSD card slot. Also, they will have some common features like dual-SIM support, IR blaster and Android 8.1 Oreo.
