Google returns to the world of tablets, but this time it does not with a new product in the Pixel range but relies on Acer to present the new Acer Chromebook Tab 10, the first tablet with Chrome OS operating system, already spotted in January. The announcement comes one day in advance of the event dedicated to the world of education that Apple has scheduled for March 27 and this is not a simple coincidence.
The new Chromebook Tab 10, in fact, began as a tool designed for education , expanding the presence of Chrome OS within the educational sector with a different device than the traditional Chromebook. The Google and Acer offer is equipped with a 9.7 ” display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, a Rockchip OP1 dual-core processor (2 Cortex-A72 and 4 A53), 4GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable internal memory.
There is also a 5MP camera sensor on the back and 2MP on the front. The battery provides up to 9 hours of battery life and there are stereo speakers and the 3.5mm jack connector. Among the other peculiarities of the tablet, we report the presence of a USB Type-C port that allows you to use the internal battery of the device to charge other connected terminals. There is also a stylus based on Wacom technology that uses the digitizer integrated into the display.
Thanks to Chrome OS, the tablet is able to run all Android applications on the Play Store and can take advantage of the unique features of the operating system designed for Chromebooks. For some time Google has been offering its devices with Chrome OS in schools and the choice of using this operating system allows you to continue to rely on all management tools designed for schools and business areas.
Acer Chromebook Tab 10 will be marketed in April in the US and in May in European countries at a price of $ 329 / € 329. However, it seems that Acer will not make it available at large retailers, relegating it mainly to schools and companies.
