LG has not been waiting for the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2018 to announce two new K-series smartphones. The 2018 K8 and K10 editions inherit some features from more expensive models, such as chassis materials and cameras. The arrival on the European market is expected for the next few weeks.
The two smartphones share the 2.5D Arc Glass design and the metal frame. Both offer better photographic quality than the previous generation, thanks to some advanced features, including phase detection autofocus (PDAF), noise reduction for low light shooting and HDR technology. The K10 (2018) incorporates a 13MP rear camera, the same as in the G6. The 8MP front camera supports the bokeh effect for selfies.
LG K10 (2018)
These are the regular LG K10 (2018), the LG K10 (2018) Alpha and LG K10 (2018) Plus. What all 3 devices have in common is that they have a 5.3-inch large screen. The trio also has an HD resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, 1.5 GHz powerful octa-core processor from an unknown manufacturer, a 3000mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner. The K10 and K10 Plus have a 13MP rear 8MP front camera. The primary camera has a portrait mode with bokeh effect. To be able to use the wide-angle lens of the selfie camera, you have to manually adjust the resolution down to 5MP. The cameras of the LG K10 (2018) Alpha have a lower resolution, namely 8MP rear and 5MP front camera.
The LG K10 (2018) Plus has the most working memory and storage capacity. This hides 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM under the hood. The other two models have to settle for 2GB of Ram and 16GB of internal memory. The K10 will soon be on sale in the colors Terra Gold, Aurora Black, and Moroccan Blue. The K10 Alpha is only available in black and gold, the K10 Plus in gold and blue. Finally, the devices are delivered with Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
LG K8 (2018)
As the name suggests, the LG K8 (2018) is less powerful than the LG K10 (2018). The screen is only 5 inches in diameter and has the same HD resolution. The chipset is a lot less powerful. The device is equipped with a 1.3 GHz powerful quad-core processor. This is supported by 2GB of memory and 16GB of internal storage.
The battery has a lower capacity of 2500mAh. Given the smaller screen size and less powerful processor, you probably press the same screen time from the battery as with the K10 series. The LG K10 (2018) appears in these colors as the K10, namely black, gold and blue. This device also runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

At this point, it can not be said whether the news will succeed in the market. It will matter a lot where LG wants to offer these K8 and K10 Smartphones and at what price. If it goes down enough, mobiles might appear in the hands of children or retirees, just for people who do not expect much from their mobile phone.
