On December 27, Xiaomi officially launches MIUI 9 Stable version third batch compatibility upgrading, including Xiaomi MI3, MI Note 2, Redmi Note 3 and others, including 9 models, this is the third upgrading on large scale after twice MIUI 9 stable version upgrading, until now, there are 27 Xiaomi models which can upgrade to MIUI 9 OS directly.
This time MIUI 9 uses different strategy like batch by batch in order to upgrade from MIUI 8. On July 26, Xiaomi officially releases MIUI 9 OS, in the second day, they start MIUI 9 Developer version upgrading batch by batch.
On September 8, MIUI finished its last batch to upgrade MIUI 9 developer version two weeks in advance, including Xiaomi MI2, MI 2S and others, about 50 models to upgrade. But many users want to try MIUI 9 Stable version, so MIUI 9 stable version also uses same strategy to upgrade, on October 31, it started to push out MIUI 9 Stable version, until now, MIUI 9 Stable version has finished about 30 models to be compatible, almost covering all Xiaomi models in 2014.

There are two ways to upgrade to MIUI 9 Stable version, one is by OTA, receiving official news to upgrade, or choosing from ‘Settings-> my device->MIU version to detect for upgrading’, supporting from MIUI V5, MIUI 6, MIUI 7, MIUI 8 Stable version to upgrade to MIUI 9 directly. In addition, go to MIUI forum to download ROM to upgrading. Right now MIUI forum can offer all models to download MIUI 9 Stable version ROM.
