In 2016, OnePlus introduced two high-end products for the same calendar year – OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. It seems to have become a tradition because, in this, 2017, he decided to do the same. In June, he debuted OnePlus 5, and After countless rumors today, OnePlus 5T Officially Unveiled in New York.
So here it is, the OnePlus 5T, with which OnePlus shows courage and dares to make major changes to its predecessors. The OnePlus 5T already looks a lot different than any previous OnePlus smartphone. And yet you can see him the typical OnePlus signature. When it comes to design consistency, OnePlus proves again and again that it has a good hand.
Nevertheless, the cuts in the OnePlus 5T have become larger due to a new, larger display with a new aspect ratio. The home button had to go soft, the fingerprint sensor has evaded the back. But the display now covers almost the entire front. The OnePlus 5T is one of the Full View smartphones and finds its connection to a current trend. However, OnePlus dispenses with the currently popular round corners. The result is that the display visually somehow not quite so to the top and bottom minimally curved frame will fit. Surely a matter of taste, but a point that we immediately noticed at first glance.
The display itself comes in 18: 9 or 2: 1 format and is with 6 “12.5% larger than that in the OnePlus 5. The Screen to Body Ratio is now 80.5%.The resolution is now 2160 x 1080 The impact on performance is unlikely to be felt by the strong Snapdragon 835 processor, and it is commendable that the OnePlus 5T continues to use an AMOLED display, as OnePlus has proven in the past to deliver really good displays The OnePlus 5T is available with 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.1 2-lane memory as well as 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM.
If the back fingerprint sensor bothers you: OnePlus has created an alternative. The OnePlus 5T supports Face Unlock. So you can unlock the smartphone with your face and do without the fingerprint sensor. Should Face Unlock ever fail – which according to OnePlus set occurs – so there is still the fingerprint as a backup. Face Unlock should unlock the OnePlus 5T within 0.4 seconds. Overall, we find the combination a very elegant solution, which compensates well for the disadvantage of the missing front fingerprint sensor.
Big changes are in the cameras. The main camera on the back now consists of a 20MP and a 16MP sensor. The special feature is that you have deleted the optical zoom, and instead donated a bright f / 1.7 aperture for both sensors. This change is to make perfect low-light shots possible. Furthermore, the bokeh mode should be greatly improved. The lack of optical zoom you should hardly notice because the information from both sensors are added together and then used for the digital zoom.
It is surprising that there is still no major leap in battery capacity. The battery is 3.300mAh and is charged as usual via Dash Charge. But the OnePlus 5T remains very slim. At only 7.3mm the smartphone is very thin and with 162g it is very light for a 6 “smartphone. The OnePlus 5T will be delivered for the time being with Android 7.1.1 (OxygenOS).

Now the question arises: Is the OnePlus 5T really better? And yes, it actually seems that way. The OnePlus 5T will be on sale in Europe, India, and the United States starting on November 21st, priced at $499, respectively, for the 64GB model. 128GB will push those prices up to $559. The US price is $20 dearer than previously, though given how Apple and Samsung’s current flagships are now rising beyond the $1,000 mark, that shouldn’t be too much of a hindrance for people enticed by the latest tech and skinniest display bezels. Whether it is worth a change this time depends in our eyes on the camera. Is there finally the promised big step forward here, the handset should actually be a good deal. More details will then show the practical test. On November 21, the OnePlus 5T will be launched.
