Huawei has released its Kirin 960 SoC first to make its android smartphones become the best ones in the short time. But with Snapdragon 835 SoC and Exynos 8895 SoC processor releasing, Kirin 960 can’t compete with them, but its GPU/baseband and process have obvious gap.
According to tradition, Huawei will release Kirin 970 processor in the next half year. And Huawei Mate 10 will be firs one to use this processor. So Kirin 970 will be over other two processor. According to current situation, it is hard to beat. The analyst @Pan Jiutang claims on Weibo that Kirin 970 will use 10nm process, meanwhile its GPU will also enhance to make up its GPU performance.
Meanwhile, he said that the upgrading of CPU in the whole of SoC has been decreased, it is not important to use new bit. Kirin 970 processor should not use new Cortex-A75 bit, but using Cortex-A73 bit same as Kirin 960. Therefore, Huawei will have no advantage to release first, Kirin 970 will not be over Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 processor.
In GPU, Exynos 8895 uses Mali-G71 MP20, Kirin 960 uses Mali-G71 MP8 processor, due to big gap between them, Huawei Kirin 970 can only be even with other twos.
Last but not least, Kirin 970 uses 10nm process, Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 uses 10nm process, if they have similar Transistor size, the real power consumption, heat issue and other performance will have no big difference.
In addition,it is said that Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9 series will be released at the beginning of next year.
