Asus has released many new products in Computex in Taibei , 2016, such as Asus Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, Zenfone 3 Ultra. And Zenfone 3 Deluxe is the real all metal body by hidden antenna design with Snapdragon 820 and RAM 6GB and ROM 128GB, UFB2.0, and Zenfone 3 for mid-range market and Zenfone 3 Ultra for large screen market. They are all high-end smartphone over $300, so does Asus have the mid-range smartphone in $200 to compete with other same level smartphone? It’s the latest smartphone, Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3 released on June 15.
Design and Craftsmanship
When i first see this Pegasus 3 smartphone, it looks a little like Pegasus 5000, only some sensor port difference. It’s very simple and practical. The most disparity is the material, Zenfone Pegasus 3 also chooses metal materiel, better than plastic design with higher level.
Zenfone Pegasus 3 uses all metal design with silver and golden color and grey, rose golden color to provide more choices for users. It uses three-step metal back cover. On the surface it uses anodic oxidation, spray paint and other processing, and it will not be so smooth for anti-fingerprint. Zenfone Pegasus 3 has also joined the fingerprint scanner to support 5 sets of fingerprint recording, the speed and accuracy of unlocking by fingerprint are also showing well.
It comes with 5.2inch HD IPS screen which is the best screen size confirmed widely by many brands and customers to offer nice gripping feel and experience watching or playing in this large screen size like 5.5inch. It has also used 2.5D glass design, there is no gap between screen and middle frame. Compared with Zenfone Pegasus 5000, the screen glass is lower the middle frame, and it will not only provide the better visual effect, but also feel smooth when sliding the screen.
In side design, it uses dual C curved style which is very sleek and fluent for better holding experience. The button design can match the light well to realize the better visual effect.
We think its design and craftsmanship are quite good, especially the gripping feel, but only problem is the black frame, it adopts no bezel ID design, and the white panel can be seen obviously. So if you mind it, you have better choose the black panel.
ZenUI 3.0
Zenfone Pegasus 3 runs ZenUI 3.0 OS based on Android6.0 OS, in UI interface, there is no big difference compared with old version. It’s easy to operate with this OS. And the rich functions can provide old people with simple mode or enhance ZenMotion smart gesture sensor with better experience.
In some details, taking users’ experience into consideration, we can switch the different files by sliding from right to left or left to right, and quickly access to other applications to make us operate easier. ZenUI 3.0 smart interface is able to provide a cloud data collection page for much resource like news, games, other apps. These are based Cloud HTML5 application and other service connection which can bring your totally different experience.
Meanwhile, ZENUI 3.0 can also make it easy to back up and recover your data.
Camera
Zenfone Pegasus 3 has 5MP front camera with F2.0 big aperture to support 10 level real-time beautification, and it has 13MP back camera with 5P lens and F2.2 big aperture. It supports PixelMaster photography technology from Asus exclusively to offer rich shooting modes with ultra clear picture quality and night shooting modes, which we like most. It can show the 50MP level micro image quality, still clear by enlarging, and when we shoot the pictures at night, it can reduce the hot pixels for more clear quality.
After testing some samples, we are satisfied with this smartphone, in shooting the remote scenery, it can show the rich details, and clear pictures, in taking pictures near us, white balance is very accurate, and macro details can show the virtual ability about background. When taking photos at night, it can also control the hot pixel well. Therefore, it can meet our daily needs for photographing.
Performance
Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3 is powered by MTK6737 Quad core processor , which is the upgraded version of MTK6735, so it has not only improved the performance, but also saving more power and bringing more stable connection. It has RAM 2GB ROM 16GB and RAM 3GB ROM 32GB two versions. We have tested the standard version, it uses Antutu test with 35,726 scores, compared with Helio X20, it has some gap, but if we don’t play large games, it is enough for daily normal use.
Battery
Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3 this time still uses large 4,100mAh battery with over 10 self settings in smart power saving technology, so it performs amazingly in battery life. After taking up to 20 pictures, half hour games, half hour videos, and other software testing it only consumes 22% electricity. So it will be a durable smartphone that can be used in two or three days without charging.
Network
It can support 4G LTE, netcom, and 7 module, 17 frequencies, and dual SIM card inserting freely. Meanwhile, it also adopts VoLTE technology for fast phone calling, clear voice and you can play games when making phone call.
Conclusion
Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3 can’t compare with other high-end smartphone in its hardware, but it uses metal body and fingerprint ID which are very necessary for its users, what’s more, it takes ZenUI 3.0 os to bring more different experience in UI. When users using this smartphone, they don’t have to install too many apps, because it has HTML5 application to meet your needs with much resource. So are you excited with this smartphone now?
