Igeekphone on November 4 news, Apple analyst Guo Mingqi revealed that Apple plans to release an upgraded version of the Vision Pro headset in 2025, which is expected to be equipped with the yet-to-be-announced M5 chip, while the current Vision Pro is equipped with the M2 released in 2022.
It is understood that Apple has been developing the M5 chip since 2023, at the same time as the A19 Pro chip, which is expected to be produced under TSMC’s 3nm process and will come out as soon as the second half to the end of next year.
While Kuo didn’t say whether the upgraded Vision Pro would have features or design improvements, he did mention that Apple has pushed back production plans for a cheaper version of the Vision Pro, pushing the new production timeline to 2027.
Well-known whistleblower Mark Gurman also discussed Apple’s future Vision product plans, with Guo Mingqi views.
He believes Apple does plan a chip upgrade for the Vision Pro, but is unclear whether it will happen in 2025.
In addition, Gurman also mentioned that Apple is working on a “simplified technical version” of the low-cost Vision Pro headset, but again did not disclose a specific release date.
Mr Gurman added that Apple was considering a device that would leave the computing component to the iPhone as a movie-watching aid, similar to smart glasses introduced by companies such as the Xreal.
Such a product would further strengthen the iPhone’s central position in Apple’s ecosystem, while potentially being more attractive than the $3,500 Vision Pro.
