Igeekphone, July 3 news, technology media Android Authority published a blog post on July 1, saying that Google has enhanced the split screen mode of the Android system in order to meet Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold mobile phone released in August.
In the Android 7.0 Nougat system launched by Google at the end of 2016, the split-screen multitasking function was introduced, which allows users to place two apps side by side according to the device use status.
Android displays it side-by-side by default, but that’s not a great experience for foldable phones with nearly square aspect ratios.
Google has quietly updated Android’s split-screen mode, allowing apps to split left and right screens even if the device is in portrait mode.
Igeekphone cited the outlet as reporting that a search for config_leftRightSplitInPortrait in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) codebome uncovered a “goldfish” configuration for pixel_fold2.
In the Android development process, Goldfish was one of the goals of platform developers to compile the AOSP version for running in the Android Studio emulator, helping developers simulate the display Settings and system configuration of their apps on physical hardware.
In pixel_fold2’s “goldfish” configuration, the media deduced a resolution of 2076 x 2152 for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s default portrait display by looking at the config_display_features value.
